Metropolitan Council Meeting, May 7, 2019

Call to Order and Invocation

The Metropolitan Council met in regular session on this date at 6:30 p.m. in the Metropolitan Courthouse.

The invocation was offered by Council Member Gilmore.

Pledge of Allegiance

​The Metropolitan Council gave the pledge of allegiance to the American Flag.

Approval of Minutes

The minutes of the regular meeting on April 16, 2019, the adjourned meeting on April 23, 2019, and the special meeting on April 30, 2019 were all approved.

Elections and Confirmations

Arts Commission

Appointment of Mr. David Ewing for a term expiring on January 1, 2020.
Mr. Ewing will fill the unexpired term of Mr. Mohamed-Shukri Hassan.
Appointment of Ms. Campbell West for a term expiring on January 1, 2022.
Ms. West will fill the unexpired term of Mr. Toby Compton.

The Rules, Confirmations, and Public Elections Committee recommended the appointments. Council Member Lee moved for confirmation, which motion was seconded and adopted by a unanimous vote of the Council.

Civil Service Commission

Reappointment of Mr. Ethan Link for a term expiring on March 31, 2024.

The Rules, Confirmations, and Public Elections Committee recommended the reappointment. Council Member Lee moved for confirmation, which motion was seconded and adopted by a unanimous vote of the Council.

Community Corrections Advisory Board

Appointment of Mr. Benjamin Hubbard for a term expiring on August 31, 2019.
Mr. Hubbard will fill the unexpired term of Ms. Amanda Kelly.

The confirmation was deferred at the request of the nominee.

Farmers Market Board

Appointment of Ms. Angela Crane-Jones for a term expiring on December 5, 2021.
Ms. Crane-Jones will fill the unexpired term of Mr. Frank Cardenas.

The Rules, Confirmations, and Public Elections Committee recommended the appointment. Council Member Lee moved for confirmation, which motion was seconded and adopted by a unanimous vote of the Council.

Parks & Recreation

Reappointment of Mr. George Anderson for a term expiring on April 30, 2024.

The Rules, Confirmations, and Public Elections Committee recommended the reappointment. Council Member Lee moved for confirmation, which motion was seconded and adopted by a unanimous vote of the Council.

Social Services Commission

Reappointment of Rev. William Harris for a term expiring on April 3, 2024.
Reappointment of Mr. Phil Orr for a term expiring on April 3, 2024.

The Rules, Confirmations, and Public Elections Committee recommended the reappointments. Council Member Lee moved for confirmation, which motion was seconded and adopted by a unanimous vote of the Council.

An ordinance to amend Title 17 of the Metropolitan Code of Laws, the Zoning Ordinance of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, by changing from RS5 to R6-A zoning on property located at 712 26th Avenue North, approximately 495 feet south of Booker Street (0.18 acres), all of which is described herein (Proposal No. 2018Z-067PR-001).
