Bill BL2020-321 (as amended)

An ordinance amending Chapter 2.04 of the Metropolitan Code to require members of the Metropolitan Council to receive disaster preparedness/response training and active shooter training.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE METROPOLITAN COUNCIL OF NASHVILLE & DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. Chapter 2.04 of the Metropolitan Code is hereby amended by adding the following new Section 2.04.070:

2.04.070 Disaster preparedness and response training.
Each member of the Metropolitan Council shall participate in and complete a disaster preparedness and response training seminar conducted under the direction of the Metropolitan Office of Emergency Management at least once every four years. The Office of Emergency Management shall be responsible for selecting the training curriculum. Such training shall include steps Councilmembers should take before, during, and after a disaster in order to help protect and serve their constituents.


Section 2. Chapter 2.04 of the Metropolitan Code is hereby amended by adding the following new Section 2.04.080:

2.04.080 Active shooter training.
Each member of the Metropolitan Council shall participate in and complete an active shooter training seminar conducted under the direction of the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department at least once every four years. The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department shall be responsible for selecting the training curriculum.

Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect from and after its enactment, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
