An ordinance to amend Section 13.08.025 of the Metropolitan Code of Laws relative to honorary street signs.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. That Section 13.08.025 of the Metropolitan Code of Laws is hereby amended by deleting Subsection E in its entirety and substituting in lieu thereof the following:
E. The department of public works shall absorb the costs for making and installing the signs for up to five honorary street names in each calendar year. A member of council shall not sponsor more than one ordinance in each calendar year naming an honorary street for which the costs of the signs are to be borne by the department of public works. The costs of making and installing signs for the sixth and subsequent honorary streets in each calendar year shall be privately funded. The department of public works shall determine the costs associated with making, installing, and maintaining such honorary street signs to be funded privately, and is authorized to accept the private funds to cover the costs prior to making and installing the signs.
Section 2. This Ordinance shall take effect from and after its final passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
