Bill BL2018-1208

An ordinance approving three license agreements between the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County and Verizon Wireless to install in-building radio-distribution devices to enhance wireless reception on or within the Historic Courthouse, the Justice A. A. Birch Building and the Nashville Public Library.

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County (“Metro”) will license to Verizon Wireless certain spaces on or within the Historic Courthouse, the Justice A. A. Birch Building and the Nashville Public Library for the installation of microcell(s), rerad(s) or other similar or comparable in-building radio-distribution devices (“IBRDs”) and the installation of antennas serving such IRBDs together with space for cables, fibers or the equivalent connecting such IBRDs and the IBRD antennas (“IBRD System”); and,

WHEREAS, installation of the IBRD System in the Historic Courthouse, the Justice A. A. Birch Building and the Nashville Public Library will amplify Verizon’s wireless signal within these buildings, creating better reception for the wireless users in these buildings; and,

WHEREAS, Metro and Verizon wish to enter into a separate license agreement for each location; and,

WHEREAS, approval of the three license agreements will benefit the citizens of Nashville and Davidson County.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1: That the three license agreements, attached hereto and incorporated herein, between the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County and Verizon Wireless, to install in-building radio-distribution devices on or within the Historic Courthouse, the Justice A. A. Birch Building and the Nashville Public Library, are hereby approved.

Section 2: Amendments to this legislation shall be passed by Resolution.

Section 3: That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
