A Resolution thanking essential workers for their efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic.
WHEREAS, the COVID-19 pandemic has changed how communities interact with each other on a day-to-day basis; and
WHEREAS, in the wake of stay at home orders across the world and within our own community, employees of essential businesses have continued to work – often working additional hours to make sure Nashvillians have the essential services they depend on; and
WHEREAS, we often take for granted those who work in these essential businesses, but the COVID-19 pandemic has shown how important the individuals who work at these establishments are to the function of our society – now more than ever; and
WHEREAS, these essential businesses include grocery stores, restaurants, delivery and shipping drivers, transit employees, and many others; and
WHEREAS, during this unprecedented time, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council go on record to show our appreciation for these essential workers.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as thanking essential workers and recognizing their hard work during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Section 2. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
