Resolution RS2020-354

A resolution honoring BNA K9 Wolf on her retirement.

WHEREAS, K9 Officer Wolf, a female German Shepherd, served with Nashville International Airport’s (BNA) Department of Public Safety from 2015 to 2020 alongside Officer Thomas Johnson as part of BNA’s K9 Explosive Detection Team; and

WHEREAS, Wolf received an intensive 12- week training program focusing on bonding, socialization, and detection at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas; and

WHEREAS, K9 Officer Wolf served with distinction and honor, having successfully scored 100% on all TSA annual evaluations and being certified by the Department of Homeland Security TSA National Explosives Detection Canine Team; and

WHEREAS, Wolf and Officer Johnson distinguished themselves by serving on the security detail for the 2017 Presidential Inauguration and recent Presidential visits to Nashville in 2020; and

WHEREAS, additionally, K9 Wolf and Officer Johnson went above and beyond as part of the Super Bowl LIII security detail which was a mark of distinction as the Department of Homeland Security is highly selective in choosing personnel for this duty; and

WHEREAS, K9 Officer Wolf being held in high esteem as an effective, loyal, and highly valued member of the BNA team retired from service on Monday April 13th, 2020 and will live out her days with Officer Johnson and family.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record recognizing K9 Wolf’s critical role in keeping millions of BNA passengers, visitors, and employees safe during her tenure.

Section 2. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
