Resolution RS2019-82

A Resolution honoring Sergeant First Class Dustin Matthew Rottero upon the occasion of Veterans Day 2019.

WHEREAS, Veterans Day is observed annually on November 11th and recognizes the sacrifices of all those who fought and served valiantly to preserve the Nation and our freedoms; and

WHEREAS, in advance of Veterans Day 2019, the Metropolitan Council recognizes Sergeant First Class (SFC) Dustin Matthew Rottero for his honorable service and contributions to our Nation; and

WHEREAS, SFC Rottero is a native of Lebanon, Tennessee and joined the military in December 2006 as a 68W Combat Medic; and

WHEREAS, Rottero worked with the Counter Drug Task Force as the Ground Reconnaissance Team Medic, and was deployed to Afghanistan in 2009 with the Agriculture Development Team as the Security Team Medic; and

WHEREAS, in 2011, he was promoted to Staff Sergeant with the Medical Detachment in Smyrna, Tennessee and was selected to be the Post Deployment Health Re-Assessment Team Supervisor, Biomedical Equipment Technician, and Tennessee Warrior Transition Unit Liaison; and

WHEREAS, in 2014, Rottero was assigned to the Recruiting and Retention Battalion and served as the Recruiting and Retention Noncommissioned Officer (NCO) in Lebanon, Tennessee; and

WHEREAS, in 2017, he was selected and won the NCO of the Year for Tennessee, Region III, and placed third in the country; and

WHEREAS, Rottero was then promoted to Sergeant First Class and has served in the military for the last 13 years, currently serving as the Senior Drill Sergeant for both Recruit Sustainment Program Detachments in Bravo Company, Recruiting and Retention Battalion; and

WHEREAS, SFC Rottero’s outstanding service is evidenced by his years of military education and numerous military decorations; and

WHEREAS, SFC Rottero is married to his wife of 10 years, Brittany Rottero, and have four children: Wyatt, Raelan, Scarlett, and Wade; and

WHEREAS, SFC Rottero is currently pursuing Business Leadership at Lipscomb University and takes great pride in working the sustainable farm that has been in his family for over 100 years; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council pays tribute to Sergeant First Class Dustin Rottero, and gives thanks to him and all those who have proudly and faithfully served in our Armed Forces.


Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as honoring Sergeant First Class Dustin Matthew Rottero.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Sergeant First Class Dustin Matthew Rottero.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
