Resolution RS2019-1895

A resolution approving an art donation acceptance agreement from the Tennessee Woman Suffrage Monument, Inc. to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting through The Metropolitan Board of Parks and Recreation.

WHEREAS, The Tennessee Woman Suffrage Monument, Inc. (TWSM) has commissioned a set of five bronze sculptures and three bronze plaques to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment (the Artwork); and,

WHEREAS, TWSM seeks to donate the Artwork to the Metropolitan Government together with a $10,950.00 maintenance fund; and,

WHEREAS, Metro Code Section 2.112.050 permits the Metropolitan Government to accept art donation acceptance agreements by resolution; and,

WHEREAS, The Metropolitan Nashville Arts Commission recommends acceptance of the donated artwork; and,

WHEREAS, The Metropolitan Board of Parks and Recreation will permanently install the Artwork as part of its Centennial Park Phase 2 Construction; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant be accepted.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the art donation acceptance agreement by and between TWSM and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through The Metropolitan Board of Parks and Recreation, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved.

Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
