Resolution RS2018-1149
A resolution approving an application for an East Nashville Backbones grant from the Greater Nashville Regional Council to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metro Nashville Public Works Department, to design, construct, and evaluate a spine of three major separated bikeways and one minor separated bikeway in East Nashville to connect communities, encourage active transportation, and decrease automobile dependence.
WHEREAS, the Greater Nashville Regional Council is accepting applications for an East Nashville Backbones grant with an award of $1,291,500.00 and a required cash match of $287,000.00 to design, construct, and evaluate a spine of three major separated bikeways and one minor separated bikeway in East Nashville to connect communities, encourage active transportation, and decrease automobile dependence; and,
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government is eligible to participate in this grant program; and,
WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant application be approved and submitted.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. That the Metropolitan Government’s application for an East Nashville Backbones grant with an award of $1,291,500.00, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metro Nashville Public Works Department is authorized to submit said application to the Greater Nashville Regional Council.
Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
