A resolution recognizing July as “Family Reunion Month” in Nashville.
WHEREAS, the family is the basic building block that shapes our society, and the lives of family members, filled with work and play, love and laughter, illness and health, grief and disappointment, success and achievement shape the course of our communities; and
WHEREAS, the history of our State and nation is woven from the countless threads of the histories of families, and these family chronicles are worthy of our appreciation; and
WHEREAS, in our modern society, families are mobile with great distances often separating people from their loved ones; and
WHEREAS, holding periodic family reunions can be a time to come together to celebrate accomplishments and help bolster familial bonds; and
WHEREAS, it is our hope that family reunions will serve, not only as a time of family fellowship, but serve as inspiration to others to gather in celebration of their heritage and love for one another; and
WHEREAS, for these reasons, it is fitting and proper for the Metropolitan Council to recognize July as “Family Reunion Month” in Nashville.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing July as “Family Reunion Month” in Nashville.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government and Davidson County requiring it.
