Resolution RS2019-1649

A resolution approving the donation of centennial celebration banners from the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County to Historic Old Hickory Village, Inc., a non-profit organization.

WHEREAS, in June 2018, Old Hickory, Tennessee celebrated its centennial anniversary; and

WHEREAS, in honor of this momentous occasion, the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County prepared banners celebrating the Old Hickory Centennial Celebration; and

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government remains in possession of the centennial banners, though it has determined that the banners are no longer needed for governmental purposes; and

WHEREAS, Historic Old Hickory Village, Inc. is a non-profit organization which promotes quality of life, neighborhood identity, community spirit, and civic pride and unity for the Old Hickory Community; and

WHEREAS, Historic Old Hickory Village, Inc., wishes to obtain the banners prepared for the Old Hickory Centennial Celebration; and

WHEREAS, the transfer of these banners would benefit both the citizens of Old Hickory as well as the citizens of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County; and

WHEREAS, it is deemed in the best interests of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County to authorize the donation of the banners to Historic Old Hickory Village, Inc.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County is hereby authorized to donate banners from the Old Hickory Centennial Celebration to Historic Old Hickory Village, Inc., a nonprofit organization.

Section 2. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
