A resolution recognizing Marcela Gomez, President of the Tennessee Latin American Chamber of Commerce (TLACC), for over a decade of service to the TLACC in support of Latino businesses, professionals, and students throughout middle Tennessee.
WHEREAS, on November 4, 2014, Marcela Gomez was appointed President and Chair of the Tennessee Latin American Chamber of Commerce (TLACC); and
WHEREAS, Marcela Gomez has served as a member of TLACC’s Board of Directors since 2006; and
WHEREAS, under Ms. Gomez’s leadership, the TLACC Chamber and Nashville’s Latino business community have grown and exceled in their participation with Nashville’s growing and increasingly diverse economy; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Gomez has initiated multiple programs during her time at TLACC, including Futuro Professionals, the Young Entrepreneurship Program, and Emerging Latino Leaders in America -- a program to support and further the growth of Latina-owned businesses in Tennessee; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council should recognize Marcela Gomez for her ongoing contributions, dedication, and commitment in support of Latino businesses, professionals, and students in middle Tennessee as they continue to thrive and immerse themselves in the commerce of Davidson County and all of Tennessee and significantly contribute to our economy.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOUTAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section l. That the Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record to formally recognize and honor Marcela Gomez for her tireless dedication and service as President of the Tennessee Latin American Chamber of Commerce and for her enormous contributions toward the advancement the Latino businesses, professionals, and students throughout middle Tennessee.
Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Marcela Gomez.
Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
