Resolution RS2020-402 (as amended)

A resolution approving a grant contract by and between The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County and The Equity Alliance to provide a community needs assessment related to federal coronavirus relief funding.

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Council adopted Resolution RS2020-318, as amended, on May 19, 2020, which authorized the acceptance of a local government Coronavirus Relief Fund grant (the “CRF grant fund”) from the U.S. Department of the Treasury and required the development of a disbursement plan related thereto to respond to the public health emergency caused by the Coronavirus pandemic; and,

WHEREAS, as part of the disbursement plan, the Metropolitan Council adopted Resolution RS2020-394 on June 16, 2020, appropriating $500,000.00 of the CRF Grant Fund to The Equity Alliance to fund a community needs assessment to inform recommendations for use of the CRF Grant Fund; and,

WHEREAS, The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County and The Equity Alliance wish to enter into a grant contract whereby The Equity Alliance will provide a community needs assessment related to federal coronavirus relief funding; and,

WHEREAS, Section 7-3-314 of the Tennessee Code Annotated states that metropolitan forms of government may provide financial assistance to nonprofit organizations; and,

WHEREAS, Section 5.04.076 of the Metropolitan Code of Laws provides that the Metropolitan Council may, by Resolution, approve grant contracts with nonprofit organizations; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant contract be approved.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The grant contract by and between The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County and The Equity Alliance to provide a community needs assessment related to federal coronavirus relief funding, attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby authorized and approved.

Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
