Resolution RS2019-1788

A resolution requesting that the Metropolitan Planning Department amend the submittal checklist for zone change applications.  The new standard will include a certification for applicants to fill out prior to filing a project indicating that the district Councilmember(s) have been notified by the applicant of the proposed application.  The Planning Department shall not accept a zone change application until the applicant certifies the application and provides record of an e-mail to the Metropolitan Council Office and Councilmember(s) of said notification.

WHEREAS, District Council members have a duty to remain informed and abreast of significant potential developments that may occur within their respective districts; and

WHEREAS, in many instances, District Council members remain unaware of proposed developments until scheduled for Metropolitan Planning Commission hearings or administrative approvals; and

WHEREAS, alerting District Council members in advance can further members’ ability to remain informed of potential developments within their districts at stages sufficiently early to allow for participation and constituent engagement in the development process.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY

Section 1. A Resolution requesting that the Metropolitan Planning Department amend the submittal checklist for zone change applications. Section 2. The Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a copy of this Resolution to the Director of the Metropolitan Planning Department and to the Chairman of the Metropolitan Planning Commission

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect 60 days from and after its adoption, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
