Resolution RS2018-1381

A resolution approving a contract between The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, by and through the Department of Public Works, and Red River Waste Solutions, LP, for weekly collection of waste in Districts 7, 8 and 9.

WHEREAS, pursuant to section 2.01 of the Metropolitan Charter, the Metropolitan Government has the authority to “collect and dispose of garbage and other refuse within the urban services district;” and,

WHEREAS, pursuant to its authority under section 2.01 of the Metropolitan Charter, The Metropolitan Government proposes to contract with Red River Waste Solutions, LP, to provide municipal solid waste collection services within the urban services district; and,

WHEREAS, Section 4.12.220 of the Metropolitan Code of Laws calls for Council approval by Resolution of certain contracts “providing for the collection, transportation and/or disposal of solid waste;” and,

WHEREAS, approval of the contract will benefit the citizens of Davidson County by providing an economical and efficient means of collecting municipal solid waste.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The contract between The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, by and through the Department of Public Works, and Red River Waste Solutions, LP, attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved.

Section 2. Any amendments, renewals, or extension of the terms of the contract must be approved by Resolution of the Metropolitan Council.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
