Resolution RS2018-1035 (as amended)

A resolution amending BL2014-926, an ordinance authorizing a one-time subsidization of rain barrels for the residents of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, by allowing a yearly subsidization of rain barrels.

WHEREAS, BL2014-926 authorized the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County (“Metro”), acting by and through Metro Water Services, to subsidize the cost of the first 1,000 rain barrels sold through the rain barrel outreach program for the residents of the Metropolitan Government and Davidson County; and,

WHEREAS, through a competitive bid process, Metro selected a company to manage the subsidized rain barrel program through the year 2020; and,

WHEREAS, the installation of rain barrels can reduce stormwater runoff to Metro’s streams and combined sewer system; and,

WHEREAS, the rain barrel outreach program was successful; and,

WHEREAS, Metro would like continue the outreach program; and,

WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County to continue the subsidized rain barrel program.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That Ordinance No. BL2014-926 is hereby amended by deleting Section 1 in its entirety and substituting in lieu thereof the following:

The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Department of Water and Sewerage Services, is hereby authorized to subsidize the cost of rain barrels, by paying twenty dollars of the cost of the rain barrels sold through the program, not to exceed $20,000 annually, for the residents of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County.

Section 2. This resolution shall take effect upon passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
