Resolution RS2020-489

A resolution approving a reciprocity agreement by and between the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department ("MNPD") and Nashville State Community College (''NSCC") allowing qualifying students of NSCC to attend the MNPD Training Academy and receive 30 hours of college course credits upon graduation from the MNPD Training Academy and MNPD sworn personnel, who have already graduated from the MNPD Training Academy, to be eligible to receive 30 hours of college course credits toward an Associates Degree at NSCC.

WHEREAS, the MNPD and NSCC have entered into a reciprocity agreement, attached hereto and incorporated herein, to provide college education credits to police officers who have graduated from the MNPD Training Academy and for career paths within MNPD for qualifying NSCC students.

WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated Section 12-9-104 provides for approval of intergovernmental agreements by Resolution; and,

WHEREAS, approval of this intergovernmental agreement will benefit the citizens of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the reciprocity agreement by and between the Metro Nashville Police Department and Nashville State Community College, attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved.

Section 2. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its final passage, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
