A Resolution honoring Thomas Sealy for his 39 years of service to the Office of the Davidson County Register of Deeds.
WHEREAS, Mr. Thomas Sealy has been a dedicated employee of the Davidson County Register of Deeds Office for 39 years and has served under Registers Felix Z. Wilson II, Bill Garrett, and Karen Johnson; and
WHEREAS, in 1982, Mr. Sealy became a Deputy Register during the administration of Register of Deeds Felix Z. Wilson II; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Sealy has been a systems administrator and analyst in the Office of the Register of Deeds since 2004; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Sealy has overseen the adoption of a broad array of software that digitalized the Office of the Register of Deeds; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Sealy oversaw implementation of Business Records for Digital Indexing; Document Technology Systems (DTS), which computerized indexes and digitized images; and the Business Information Systems (BIS) upgrade; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Sealy received his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Belmont University and his Associate degree in Science from Volunteer State Community College; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Sealy, son of Mrs. Ruth Sealy and the late Mr. Harry T. Sealy, grew up in Inglewood, graduating in the second graduating class of Pioneer Christian Academy; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Sealy, after his marriage in 1982 to Gina Proctor, chose to live in Madison, where he and Gina raised two girls, Erin and Mary; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Sealy rose to the position of Chief Deputy Register of Deeds in 2019 under Register Karen Johnson, becoming an invaluable top aide to the Register due to his experience and in-depth knowledge of the Office of the Register of Deeds; and
WHEREAS, upon Mr. Sealy’s retirement from Metro Government on February 28, 2020, his presence in the Office of the Davidson County Register of Deeds will be missed and his stature as a leader will be irreplaceable; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council go on record as recognizing Mr. Sealy’s 39 years of service to the Office of the Davidson County Register of Deeds and Metropolitan Government.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as honoring Thomas Sealy for his 39 years of service to the Office of the Davidson County Register of Deeds.
Section 2. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
