A resolution recognizing May 13, 2018 as Mother’s Day in Nashville.
WHEREAS, on Mother’s Day we celebrate those who are the first to welcome us into the world, who shape who we become as adults, and give use lessons to guide us throughout life; and
WHEREAS, mothers – biological, foster, or adoptive – perform the most important work and serve as our first role models and earliest motivators; and
WHEREAS, for generations, mothers have led the charge toward a freer and more inclusive society; and
WHEREAS, mothers are leaders and trailblazers in every part of our society and many mothers work long hours both inside and outside the home; and
WHEREAS, for over 100 years, Mother’s Day has become an important day to honor individuals who are mothers and their service to our communities; and
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Council recognizes the importance of mothers by recognizing them with their own day.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Sunday, May 13, 2018 as Mother’s Day in Nashville.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government and Davidson County requiring it.
