Did you know that on average, each Nashvillian wastes 3.5 pounds of food per week? Nationally, the cost of food waste adds up to $1,800 per U.S. household annually. Banana peels, coffee grounds, rotten eggs—all of this food waste is sent to our landfills! Learn from experts at Metro Public Works and the Nashville Food Waste Initiative about how you can divert some of this waste and help the City reach its zero waste goal.
The panel will discuss how you can:
- prevent food waste in your household (and encourage the businesses you patronize to do so as well);
- help rescue surplus food by volunteering with non-profits; and
- recycle your household and community food scraps.
