Motorcycle Crash on Old Hickory Boulevard Claims Pegram Man
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The motorcyclist killed Friday at 8:30 p.m. on Old Hickory Boulevard at the I-40 East entrance ramp is identified as Darrell Clark, 37, of Pegram, Tennessee.
The preliminary investigation shows that Clark was riding his 2001 Harley Davidson motorcycle south on Old Hickory Boulevard at a high rate of speed when he collided with the passenger side of a northbound Honda minivan that was turning left, across the southbound lanes of Old Hickory Boulevard, to enter the I-40 East entrance ramp.
Clark, who was wearing a helmet, was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center where he died. The driver of the minivan, Robert Rucker, 63, of Nashville, sustained minor injuries.
The preliminary contributing factors to this fatal crash appear to be failure to yield the right of way on the part of Rucker and excessive speed on the part of Clark.
