Driver in Saturday Night's Fatal Pedestrian Collision on Church Street Surrenders

The man who admits to driving the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee that struck and killed Marilyn Zindel outside the Homewood Suites hotel on Church Street Saturday night has surrendered.
Tory Winters, 24, of Cabot Drive, telephoned the Emergency Communications Center today to report that he was the person driving and wanted to surrender. The Jeep was located at Winters’ apartment complex and impounded. Winters declined to be interviewed.
Winters is charged with leaving the scene of a collision involving death, failure to yield involving death, failure to render aid, and failure to immediately report the collision. A judicial commissioner set his bond at $5,200.
Zindel, 67, of Melbourne, Florida, had just gotten out of a transportation golf cart that had pulled to the curb when she was hit and fatally injured. The investigation is continuing.
