Officers Looking for Dark Colored SUV Involved in Saturday Night's Fatal Pedestrian Collision on Church Street

Officers are continuing in their efforts to locate the dark colored SUV that struck and killed Marilyn Zindel, 67, of Melbourne, Florida, as she stepped out of a transportation golf cart in front of the Homewood Suites hotel at 706 Church Street at 11:12 p.m. Saturday.

The investigation shows that the golf cart had pulled to the curb and Zindel exited to her left. Witnesses reported that just as she exited and was in the roadway, the SUV, which was traveling west on Church Street, seemed to accelerate and struck Zindel. She was rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.

A surveillance camera photographed what may be the offending SUV. The picture is attached.

The cause of this fatal collision appears to be recklessness on the part of the SUV’s driver.

Anyone with information about the SUV and/or its occupant(s) is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and qualify for a cash reward.
