Man Killed in I-24 Collision Identified
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The man killed Tuesday at 4:30 a.m. after he apparently got out of his vehicle following a crash on I-24 near Harding Place is identified as Andres Perez, 20, of Nashville.
The preliminary investigation shows that Perez was traveling westbound on I-24 in a 2011 Honda Civic when, for reasons unknown, he lost control and struck the center retaining wall of the interstate, coming to a stop in lane three. After the crash, Perez, it appears, got out of his vehicle presumably to inspect the damage. The Honda was then struck by the westbound driver of a 2008 Ford Taurus, Willie Lorenzo, 51. Perez was critically injured in the collision. He was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center where he died. Lorenzo, who appeared to have minor injuries, refused medical attention at the scene.
There were no evidence of drug or alcohol involvement at the scene. No charges are anticipated.
