Man Charged with Criminal Homicide After Human Remains Found at Burned Campsite
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Central Precinct detectives late last night charged David Dwayne Williams, 27, with criminal homicide for killing a man whose remains were found earlier Wednesday in a burned campsite next to 825 6th Avenue South.
The Medical Examiner’s Office is assisting in confirming the victim’s identity and cause of death.
Information from persons in the area led to the identification of Williams as a suspect. During an interview at the Central Precinct Wednesday night, Williams admitted to being involved in a dispute with the victim and striking him with a machete.
The investigation is continuing. Williams, who is homeless, is being held in lieu of $250,000 bond.
