FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

East Precinct detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the person(s) responsible for the June 1st apparent drug-related fatal shooting of Ibrahim Oruc, 48, inside a short term rental in the 1200 block of Joseph Avenue.

Oruc was one of three persons who reportedly met two men at the house. Oruc reportedly attempted to run away when the gunman fired, striking Oruc in the torso. Oruc, of California, was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center where he died weeks later.

The suspects, both described as black men armed with handguns, took several bags from the location and fled in a green older model pickup truck (surveillance photos attached) and a gray sedan. The first suspect appears to be in his late 30s. He is approximately 6’2” tall and heavy-set. He wore a black shirt, jeans, orange Ralph Lauren high-top shoes, and a grill on his upper teeth. The second suspect, who had short twisted dreads with red tips and wore a Tractor Supply ball cap, is approximately 5’7” tall.
