At-Fault Driver in Sunday Night Head-on Collision Rearrested Wednesday Night on Vehicular Homicide Charge



Francisco Nuffio, 31, charged Monday morning with vehicular assault for a head-on collision late Sunday night on Bell Road at Rice Road that severely injured another motorist was rearrested Wednesday night after the victim died.

Nuffio is now charged with vehicular homicide by intoxication for the death of Eduar Anthony Canales Landaverde, 24, of Houston, Texas.

Nuffio is accused of driving a Ford F-150 pickup truck drunk when he crossed over the double yellow line on Bell Road and collided head-on with a 2018 Nissan Versa being driven by Landaverde. When officers arrived on the scene, Landaverde was trapped in the vehicle unconscious and badly hurt.

Nuffio posted a $25,000 bond on the vehicular assault charge and was released from jail. Officers arrested him Wednesday night at his Northcrest Drive home. He remains in jail this morning with a bond set at $150,000.
