Man Arrested for Sunday Morning Gunfire at 2nd Av and Commerce St Downtown that Wounded 8 Persons

Central Precinct detectives tonight charged Allen J. Crump, 22, with felony reckless aggravated assault in connection with Sunday’s 1 a.m. gunfire at 2nd Avenue North & Commerce Street that wounded or grazed 8 innocent bystanders, none critically.
Numerous interviews and follow up by detectives from the precinct and the Specialized Investigations Division’s Crime Gun Unit led to Crump’s Madison home. He was cooperative and admitted to shooting a 9 millimeter pistol. The gun was recovered from the home.
At the time of the gunfire, Crump was involved in a dispute with another man who also fired shots. Efforts continue to confirm that individual’s identity.
Crump is jailed in lieu of $120,000 bond.
