Thomas Vaden III Arrested for Monday Afternoon's Shooting of Man on California Avenue
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
West Precinct detectives this afternoon charged Thomas Vaden III, 21, with felony aggravated assault for Monday afternoon’s shooting of Randal Faulk, 56, outside Faulk’s California Avenue home. Faulk was hit multiple times and remains in critical condition at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Information provided through Crime Stoppers led to the identification of Vaden as the potential gunman depicted in publicly released surveillance photos running from the scene. As detectives were beginning to investigate Vaden, he came to the West Precinct this afternoon to give a statement. Vaden, of Morrow Road, admitted to shooting Faulk after, he said, Faulk hit him first. The two men apparently did not know each other. Vaden claims he approached Faulk to ask for a light for a cigar.
A judicial commissioner set Vaden’s bond at $25,000.
