Woman Charged with Vehicular Homicide by Intoxication

The driver who struck a pedestrian at the intersection of Nolensville Pike at Welshwood Drive Friday at 9:15 p.m. is charged with vehicular homicide by intoxication.
Shannon Mullen, 31, of Old Hickory Boulevard, was driving her Volkswagen Eos north on Nolensville Pike at Welshwood Drive when she struck a 55-year-old Nashville man who appeared to have been in a crosswalk prior to the collision. He was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center where he died. Notification of next of kin is pending.
Mullen smelled of alcohol, was unsteady on her feet and had bloodshot eyes. Her performance in field sobriety tasks indicated impairment. A blood sample was drawn at General Hospital for alcohol/drug analysis.
Mullen is free on $50,000 bond.
