Self-Defense Claim Under Investigation in Early Morning Domestic-Related Fatal Shooting in South Nashville

Homicide Unit detectives are investigating a woman’s claim of self-defense in this morning’s fatal shooting of her boyfriend inside her Swiss Avenue apartment in South Nashville.

Tiffany McMutuary, 31, called 911 at 12:41 a.m. to report that she had shot Anthony D. Davis, 38. McMutuary reported that Davis had grabbed her by the neck during an argument and said he was going to kill her. She said she got away from Davis and retrieved his gun from another room. McMutuary said she confronted Davis with the pistol and shot him as he advanced on her. Davis died at the scene. McMutuary cooperated with detectives and consented to an interview at police headquarters. The two had a history of domestic incidents.

No charges have been placed against McMutuary pending the completion of the investigation and a review by the District Attorney’s Office.
