Public's Assistance Sought in Identifying Gunman who Fired Shots Toward Marked MNPD Patrol Car

The public’s assistance is being sought in identifying the man who at midnight, for no apparent reason, fired shots toward a marked MNPD patrol car driving through the parking lot at the Twice Daily Shell, 2112 Charlotte Avenue.

The suspect was standing by the front entrance, smoking and talking on a cell phone. As the officer drove by, the suspect retrieved a handgun from his pants and nonchalantly fired four shots toward the rear of the police car. The officer was uninjured and the car was not hit. The suspect held the cell phone to his ear during the entire incident and then fled on foot. He never entered the store.

The gunman is a black man who appears to be in his late 20s or 30s. He wore eyeglasses, a dark hooded sweatshirt and jeans.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect from the attached surveillance photos is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and qualify for a cash reward.
