Serial Commercial Robbery Suspect in Custody
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Serial robbery suspect Shacorra Sumler, 33, is charged with two counts of attempted aggravated robbery for Monday night’s attempted hold-up at the Dollar General, 3052 Brick Church Pike.
Sumler entered the business at 8:10 p.m. armed with a handgun and demanded money from the register. When the clerks struggled to open the register, Sumler allegedly chambered a round in the gun and told them that she was tired of them “playing with me”. One of the employees hit the alarm and Sumler fled. Later that same night, around 9 p.m., Sumler allegedly robbed the Subway at 2420 Gallatin Pike.
Outstanding, coordinated police work between several precincts led to the identification of Sumler as a suspect in multiple robberies. She was taken into custody yesterday at her Green Ridge Drive residence.
East Precinct detectives on Tuesday also swore out an aggravated robbery warrant against her for the Subway hold-up.
Sumler is currently under investigation for at least eight additional commercial robberies across Davidson County. Her photo is being withheld pending lineups.
