Carjacking Suspect Free on Bond Arrested Today for Series of Friday Night Robberies in South Nashville

An 18-year-old released from jail on bond for a December 22nd carjacking in North Nashville was arrested again early today for robbing five persons in South Nashville late Friday night, and is under investigation for other recent armed robberies in the South Nashville area.

Keydre Tidwell was taken into custody at his 4554 Artelia Drive home where detectives recovered cell phones and other property belonging to robbery victims, as well as a Glock semi-automatic pistol stolen during a 2017 burglary.

Tidwell is now charged with:

  • Robbing a man who was sitting in his car Friday night on Humber Drive. The victim said a gunman opened his door and demanded his belongings. When the victim refused, he was struck in the head with a pistol. The robber made off with cash and the victim’s phone.
  • Robbing a woman who was sitting in her car Friday night on Ocala Drive. The victim had just arrived home and was checking her phone when she heard a knock on her window. She looked to see a gunman who robbed her of her phone, keys and other belongings.
  • Robbing three women who were sitting in a vehicle Friday night on Waikiki Boulevard. They heard a smack on the window and saw a gunman who demanded their belongings. They were robbed of keys, phones and wallets.

Early today, one of the victims alerted police that her phone was sending a signal from 4554 Artelia Drive. Officers went there and Tidwell answered the door. A relative said that Tidwell had recently returned home. During the execution of a search warrant, detectives found phones and property taken during the Friday night robberies, as well as property believed to be connected to other robbery cases.

Tidwell is jailed today in lieu of $255,000 bond on 5 counts of aggravated robbery and 1 count of theft of a firearm.

Last December, Tidwell was arrested for carjacking a man of his 2017 Nissan Sentra on Dr. D.B. Todd Jr. Boulevard. He bailed from the driver’s seat of the car as officers tried to stop it about an hour after the crime occurred. He was taken into custody after a lengthy foot chase. A judicial commissioner set Tidwell’s bond then at $60,000.
