Man Charged with Criminal Homicide in Monday Night's Fatal Shooting of His Fiance
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Homicide Unit detectives this morning charged Brandon Dement, 28, with criminal homicide for Monday night’s fatal shooting of his fiancé, Cortney Moyers, 21, inside their residence in the 300 block of Ewing Drive.
Officers responded to a 10:12 p.m. shooting call to find Moyers with a wound to her head. She died a short time later at Skyline Medical Center.
Dement was determined to be the sole witness. Dement told detectives that he and Moyers had been drinking and got into an argument. He said that he was holding a pistol under his chin with his finger on the trigger when Moyers attempted to intervene by grabbing his arm that was holding the gun. He said the pistol discharged, striking Moyers in the head.
Dement is being held in the Downtown Detention Center without bond pending a hearing.
