2/17/2021

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

A review of stolen vehicle reports in Nashville from Sunday, February 7, through Saturday, February 13, shows that 79% of the automobiles taken (37 of 47) were easy targets because the keys were left inside or made available to thieves. Twelve of the 47 vehicles stolen were left running without the driver present.

During this reporting time period, a total of 9 guns were stolen from vehicles; three of those vehicles were left unlocked.

The number of guns stolen from vehicles last week by precinct are North (0), South (2), Central (1), East (0), West (0), Midtown Hills (2), Madison (1) and Hermitage (3).

The police department’s continuing PARK SMART campaign strongly urges citizens to lock their automobile doors, secure any valuables---including guns, and REMOVE THE KEYS.
