Two Teens Being Charged with Attempted Murder and Especially Aggravated Robbery for Valentine's Night Shooting Outside Convenience Market

Homicide Unit detectives are charging two teenagers with attempted murder and especially aggravated robbery for the Valentine’s Night critical shooting of Chauncey D. Gray, 23, outside the Marathon market at 234 W. Trinity Lane. Gray suffered a wound to his neck and remains hospitalized in life-threatening condition. Gray was confronted and shot moments after walking out of the store.
The suspects in this case are Brian Cook Jr., 17, and Demontaz Jones, 15, who were arrested separately on February 16th for shooting a 20-year-old man in the leg while attempting to rob him and his girlfriend on Valentine’s Evening as the victims sat in a car at the Shell market at 1001 Shelby Avenue in East Nashville.
Cook is additionally charged with another attempted murder count for shooting another 20-year-old man on February 16th in the 600 block of Dew Street.
Cook’s charges have been filed in the adult system because he was previously adjudicated as an adult in a Montgomery County criminal case. Jones’ charges have been filed in Juvenile Court.
