Detectives Working to Identify Gunman who Shot Woman Outside Her South 6th Street Apartment

East Precinct detectives are working to identify the gunman who Tuesday at 7:50 p.m. shot a 31-year-old woman outside her apartment on South 6th Street in the James Cayce Homes.

The suspect was the front seat passenger in a white 2-door Honda Civic hatchback with a sunroof that parked in the 600 block of South 6th Street at 7:30 p.m. When the woman arrived in her vehicle about 20 minutes later, the gunman exited the Civic and fired directly into her car, striking her four times. He fled in the Honda. Officers quickly responded and rendered aid to the victim who was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center where she is now in stable condition. The motive for the gunfire remains under investigation.

The suspect is a black man who is bald. He wore a black t-shirt, blue jeans, and white tennis shoes.
