Mayor & Chief Welcome New Class of Police Officer Trainees

Mayor Karl Dean and Chief Steve Anderson on March 5 welcomed the 33 members of police recruit Session 68, who, on March 1, began the 5 ½ month training process to become Metro police officers.

“Each of you brings to this academy individual sets of life experiences that will benefit your colleagues and this city,” Mayor Dean told the class.  “This is an exciting time for our police department, and I thank you for choosing law enforcement as a career and this agency as the place you want to work.”

Chief Anderson, who graduated as a member of recruit Session 1 in 1975, told the class that while the training process will not be easy, it is the doorway to a rewarding professional lifetime of service.

Graduation for Session 68 is set for July 31.
