June 14, 2013

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Domestic Violence Detectives have issued arrest warrants charging convicted murderer Earnest Woodley aka Earnest Moore, 39, with four counts of attempted homicide and four counts of aggravated assault after he allegedly shot his girlfriend, Nicole Luke, 34, and her three daughters, two 14-year-old twins, Deona and Keona Luke, and Kierra Smith, 15.

Woodley and Nicole Luke were reportedly moving to Memphis when they stopped by Woodley’s cousin’s apartment at 135 Brink Haven Avenue to say goodbye.  They parked two vehicles outside the apartment, a U-Haul full of their belongings and a Chevrolet Traverse.  Kierra Smith stayed inside the Traverse while Woodley, Luke and the twins went inside.  According to Woodley’s cousin, the couple argued inside the apartment and Woodley shot Nicole Luke and her twin daughters before going outside and firing into the Traverse, striking Smith.

All four victims were transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where they are all in stable condition.

Three other children were also inside the apartment at the time of the shooting, Woodley’s and Luke’s 3-year-old daughter, and Woodley’s cousin’s children, two boys ages 7 and 13.  They were not harmed.

Woodley reportedly ran into a wooded area after the shooting.  He was barefoot and wearing blue shorts and a gray t-shirt.  He is 5’11” and weighs 190 pounds.  He is considered armed and dangerous.  Anyone who sees Woodley or knows his whereabouts is urged to contact the Emergency Communications Center at 862-8600 or Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.  Citizens can also send an electronic tip to Crime Stoppers by texting the word “CASH” along with their message to 274637 (CRIMES) or online at www.nashvillecrimestoppers.com.  Persons who contact Crime Stoppers by phone or text message can remain anonymous and qualify for a cash reward of $1,000 in this case.

The MNPD’s Domestic Violence Division had no prior history on this family.

Woodley’s Nashville arrest history, under the last name Moore, consists of driving on a suspended license, resisting arrest, handgun possession, criminal trespass and misuse of vehicle registration charges.

Woodley (Moore) has multiple felony convictions in Shelby County for offenses including second degree murder, aggravated assault and cocaine possession.  His parole expired in 2010.
