Nashville doubles housing placement rate in one year

12/26/2014

Prior to the How's Nashville campaign, which was launched by the Homelessness Commission together with its community partners in June 2013, an average of 19 chronically homeless individuals moved into permanent housing each month.

Now, 18 months later, that number has increased to 46 people who moved into permanent housing each month. More than 850 individuals and family members who had experienced chronic homelessness and are considered vulnerable now have a roof over their heads.

The Homelessness Commission meanwhile examines each month how many are still housed and found that the How's Nashville campaign shows an annual housing retention rate of 75-80%. The key to success is linking people with support services to help them transition from the streets and shelters to their new life in permanent housing.
