Detectives Seeking Getaway Car from 10 a.m. Downtown Robbery

July 24, 2013

Central Precinct detectives are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the two persons responsible for a 10 a.m. robbery in a parking lot at 6th Avenue South & Demonbreun Street downtown.
A woman was getting into her parked car when a skinny white man with shaggy hair wearing red shorts approached, displayed a knife and demanded the victim’s purse.  The victim was either struck or “shouldered” by the robber as he grabbed the purse from the passenger seat of her car.  He then ran to a 2000 model burgundy Honda Civic being driven by a female accomplice and fled.  The car has slight damage above the driver’s side wheel and a dark colored license plate.  A tourist who heard the victim yell alertly snapped a photo of the getaway car (attached).
Anyone seeing the vehicle or knowing the identity of the driver is urged to immediately contact the Emergency Communications Center at 862-8600 or Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.
