New Dialect is Dance Division’s summer company-in-residence
Group will form the core faculty of Dance Division’s budding contemporary modern program for children and adults
Nashville, Tenn. --- Metro Parks’ Dance Division is proud to announce Nashville-based contemporary dance company, New Dialect, as its summer company-in-residence from June 16 - August 22. New Dialect will hold rehearsals in the Centennial Arts Activity Center Monday - Friday, 12 - 3:30 p.m. to prepare for their upcoming debut at OZ Nashville on August 21, 2014.
New Dialect, led by artistic director Banning Bouldin, a Nashville native, Julliard graduate, and international performer, choreographer and teaching artist, is a 21st Century dance collective dedicated to the artistic development of today's dancers, teaching artists, and choreographers. New Dialect aims to inspire people of all social backgrounds, cultures, and generations by offering affordable and free performances in theaters, galleries, and public spaces and has created performances and dance films specifically for urban spaces, galleries, parks, and green ways.
New Dialect dancers will form the core faculty of the Metro Parks Dance Division’s budding contemporary modern program for both children and adults based on Flooring/Falling/Sliding, a syllabus Bouldin has developed. Bouldin will teach contemporary modern and improvisation for our upcoming summer dance intensive for teens, June 2 - 13. Company members will offer classes in creative movement for 4 - 5 years; contemporary modern and improvisation for 8 - 9 years, 10 - 11 years, teens and adults; yoga for 9 - 11 years and teens; and contemporary ballet for adults. The company will also hold an invited dress rehearsal open to Metro Parks Dance Division families to preview and discuss their work.
