Flex It! My Body My Temple: New Exhibit at the Parthenon

FLEX IT! My Body My Temple
Parthenon’s East Gallery & Centennial Park

For the summer and fall of 2014 The Parthenon Museum is collaborating with local social practice artist Adrienne Outlaw to invite other artists to come to Nashville and create a series of social practice artworks that address obesity. Social practice is a relatively new art form that involves the artist going out to interact and promote change within a community rather than working isolated in the studio to create an object. The multiple artists’ projects involved in this show will create fun and engaging ways to discuss making healthier choices and living a more active lifestyle.

FLEX IT! is comprised of seven projects by artists or artist teams who will be traveling to Nashville between the months of May through October 2014 to develop their projects and engage with the Nashville community. All these projects will culminate in an exhibition in The Parthenon Museum’s East Gallery from September 1, 2014 through January 10, 2015.
