NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Scammers are at it again.  Yesterday, the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) received a complaint that a man, identifying himself as a DCSO warrant officer, contacted a woman by phone demanding she pay $1,700 in court fines because her daughter missed jury duty.  The caller threatened failure to pay the fine would result in the daughter being jailed.  Additionally, the caller provided specific information about the woman’s daughter and husband, making the threat seem more legitimate.

“At no time will sheriff’s office or police department employees call asking for money,” Davidson County Sheriff Daron Hall said. “Do not give these scammers any personal information and certainly do not give in to their threats of incarceration based on failure to pay bogus fines.”

If you are targeted and receive one of these calls, please contact the Metro Police Department at 615.862.8600.
