Media Advisory: Metropolitan Action Commission to host 25th Annual Graduation Ceremony Tomorrow


NASHVILLE, Tenn. – On Friday, nearly 40 adults in caps and gowns will receive their high school equivalency diplomas (commonly referred to as GED) from the Metropolitan Action Commission at the 25th Annual Adult Education Graduation service.

“Our graduation is a festive occasion for our adult students and their families. Many of our students never thought they would experience the excitement of walking across a stage hearing the cheers from an audience as they received their diplomas,” said Marvin D. Cox, Community Programs Director.

Since 1990, Metro Action has provided free classroom instruction for adults preparing to take the high school equivalency exam in order to obtain their equivalency diploma. The agency covers the cost of the class materials, the exam and other resources to assist the students enrolled in the program. The agency also provides assistance with college or technical training enrollment after graduating from their program.
