Hearing Today for Teenager Charged with Wounding 10-Year-Old

August 3, 2015

A Juvenile Court detention hearing is set for later this afternoon in the case of a 14-year-old boy accused of shooting a 10-year-old in the chest inside a room of the Regency Inn on Hampton Street at 12:30 a.m. Saturday.
Marterious Boyd is in stable condition at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
The investigation shows that Boyd was playing with a toy cap gun and pointing it at other boys who were in the room playing video games.  The 14-year-old had a .22 caliber revolver (which was in poor mechanical condition), pointed it at the 10-year-old and pulled the trigger.  The gun discharged, striking the 10-year-old.  A female young adult was in the motel room taking a bath at the time and did not see the shooting.
The 14-year-old, who was located by officers at his home near the motel, was charged with aggravated assault and unlawful gun possession.
