Mayor Megan Barry and iFundWomen Partner to Launch the First Regional Crowdfunding Platform to Empower Female Entrepreneurs
iFundWomen Nashville is Accepting Applications from Entrepreneurs
The Office of Megan Barry and iFundWomen, the crowdfunding platform for women-led businesses, today announced a groundbreaking partnership to create the first regional crowdfunding platform to support the projects and creative ideas of women. Nashville is the first city in the nation to have a dedicated crowdfunding hub to help city residents invest in local women entrepreneurs trying to grow their emerging businesses. iFundWomen Nashville will be accepting applications starting today until February 28, for acceptance onto the platform, which officially launches in late March. All women-led startups and small businesses in the Nashville area are encouraged to apply.
“Nashville has a strong entrepreneurial and small business community and iFundWomen Nashville helps everyone find and support women entrepreneurs in our community who need funding and start-up resources,” said Mayor Barry. “Entrepreneurship is thriving in the Nashville area, but there are still significant funding barriers especially for women. iFundWomen Nashville gives our residents a unique way to explore new women-led businesses, the stories behind their start and a way to invest directly in local entrepreneurs and creatives.”
iFundWomen supports women who are early stage entrepreneurs working to raise money for their businesses. The type of businesses vary whether it’s a tech app, a brick and mortar store, a food truck, scientific research, or a creative initiative like a film. iFundWomen’s team will vet all applicants and selected entrepreneurs will receive one-on-one, expert coaching to help articulate messaging and reach their business and fundraising goals. iFundWomen Nashville will also offer video production services to help those on the platform tell their stories and maximize reach.
“iFundWomen is honored to partner with the city of Nashville on the first regionally-focused crowdfunding initiative for women in the nation,” said iFundWomen CEO, Karen Cahn. “Hyper-local crowdfunding is going to be powerful because it will rally entire cities to support entrepreneurs in their hometown, and therefore boost their own local economy. Our platform makes it easier than ever to find those start-up businesses, and to be a part of helping them get off the ground.”
iFundWomen Nashville is a one-stop destination for men and women who want to contribute to launching female-led businesses in their neighborhood through financial donations of any amount. Through their pay-it-forward model, iFundWomen will directly reinvest 20% of its standard fees from supporters into live projects on the site.
It is possible to track the financial progress of all campaigns featured and this encourages Nashville-area residents to keep coming back to the site to support local businesses.
