Groundbreaking for Madison Park and Regional Community Center scheduled for February 23

A groundbreaking ceremony for a new regional community center in the existing 31 acre Madison Park is scheduled for 11 a.m., Thursday, February 23. Construction is expected to take 12-14 months.

Once completed, the 25,000 square foot facility will include a gymnasium, dance room, fully-equipped fitness center, meeting rooms, indoor track. Additions to the park will include a new soccer field with lights, a new playground, and parking lot. The new center will be a LEED certified facility.

Madison Regional Community Center joins other Metro regional community centers, including Hartman, Hadley, Coleman, East, McCabe, Sevier and Southeast in offering diverse recreation and wellness opportunities. Regional centers are open six days a week with a variety of programs for children, teens, adults and seniors. The existing Madison Neighborhood Center will remain open throughout construction, at which time many programs will transfer to the new center.
