Autopsy Confirms that 12-Year-Old Yhoana Arteaga was Murdered Thursday Evening

An autopsy performed today confirms that 12-year-old Yhoana Arteaga was murdered early Thursday evening inside her family’s mobile home at 1229 Old Dickerson Pike.

Without being specific due to the continuing investigation, the autopsy found that Yhoana suffered from trauma unrelated to gunfire or laceration/stabbing.

A team of detectives from the Madison Precinct’s Investigations Unit, the Youth Services Division and the Criminal Investigations Division are continuing in their efforts to identify the person who killed Yhoana. She last communicated with her mother at approximately 5:30 p.m. Thursday. She was found dead by her mother and other family members at 6:45 p.m.

Police department crime scene experts meticulously processed the mobile home for evidence last night and today. Testing of evidence will be conducted by the MNPD Crime Laboratory.
